The Portland Symphony Orchestra has teamed up with the Portland Public Library to present “Musically Speaking,” a series of lively lunch-time explorations of upcoming PSO concerts. Dr. Scott Harris, Director of the music department at the University of Southern Maine, will host the discussions, which are free and open to the public; brown bag lunches are welcome.

Middle-schoolers from around the region are invited to the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s (PSO) first Youth Concert of the season, a spine-tingling Halloween-themed program titled “The Chill of the Orchestra” on Monday, October 29 and Tuesday, October 30 at 9:30 and 11:10 a.m.

Guest conductor Robert Lehmann will lead the Portland Symphony Orchestra in "A Little Fright Music," a "spirited" program of spine-tingling classics that opens the Portland Symphony Orchestra's 2007-2008 Pops season on Saturday, October 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 at 2:30 p.m.

Internationally acclaimed pianist William Wolfram joins conductor and Portland Symphony Orchestra Artistic Advisor Joseph Silverstein for the opening concert of the Portland Symphony's 83nd season on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Merrill Auditorium.

The Portland Symphony Orchestra 2007 Designers’ ShowHouse at Oakley Estate, 113 Foreside Road in Falmouth Foreside, opens its doors to the public on Sunday, September 9 at noon. A total of fifteen special events, many free with admission, will be held during the ShowHouse run through September.
