With just five laps to go in the Amp Energy 500 race, there were two wrecks that resulted in cars flipping. Ryan Newman and Mark Martin both flipped in two separate wrecks in the final laps of the race. Jamie McMurray was leading the race when both wrecks occurred and score his first victory in over two years.

With half of the Chase races completed, Jimmie Johnson is doing what he has done the past three years. He is taking control of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase and appears to be on his way to another championship.

Brad Keselowski and the rest of the Nationwide Series was busy getting ready for the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway all day Friday. Everyone else was busy with the rumor that Keselowski was going to drive for Roger Penske in the NASCAR Sprint Cup next year.

Ron Hornaday holds just about every record in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series. Tonight he came up short in adding to his effort to win six straight races by finishing third in the O’Reilly 200 presented by Valvoline at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

Starting with tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour UNOH Perfect Storm 150 race, Sprint Cup driver Ryan Newman began his quest of completely every lap raced during this week’s races at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol is hosting four NASCAR races with the Camping World Truck Series, Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup Series also racing at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile.”

At the last Camping World Truck Series race in Nashville, Ron Hornaday set a record for the series and joined two other NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Bobby Allison for five straight victories which they each did in 1971. Petty holds the record with ten straight wins in the 1967 season. Tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway, Hornaday will go for his sixth straight win.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing sought ways to lessen their environmental impact long before the economy faltered, and critics may scoff that a fuel-based spectator sport could yield benefits, but for NASCAR, the recession clouds may have many “green linings.”

The 51st annual Daytona 500 is scheduled to run on Sunday, Feb. 15th. The Daytona 500 is the crown jewel of stock car racing.

The Chevrolet WTCC team dominated the proceedings at Brands Hatch today. Swiss touring ace, Alain Menu, won his third consecutive WTCC race at the Kent track, the first driver in the WTCC history to score three wins at the same track.

Clint Bowyer, who joined NASCAR racing less than four years back, has managed to become one of the most popular racing champions in the country. Born in 1979, Bowyer stated racing in the motocross at the young age of five.

Kurt Busch has been one NASCAR driver who has been in the news for one reason or the other ever since his entry on the NASCAR circuits. This highly talented driver, who has been driving in both the Busch Series (#12 Penske Truck Rental Dodge) and the Nextel Cup Series(#2 Miller Lite Dodge), has been a Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year , an IROC champion and a NEXTEL Cup Champion to boot.
