Despite an uncommon heat spell, San Francisco's Bay to Breakers 2009 was its usual hit. Typically, the race is an oddball set of nude runners, runners in costumes, etc. but there is a serious race with prizes as well, and a record set today. Now the 2009 winner of the Bay To Breakers makes a course record.

Throughout the world, amateurs, experts and the media agree that prolonged jogging raises people's spirits. And many believe that the body’s own opioids, so called endorphins, are the cause of this. But in fact this has never been proved until now. Researchers at the Technische Universitet Munchen and the University of Bonn succeeded to demonstrate the existence of an ‘endorphin driven runner’s high’.

Katie Holmes competed in the New York City marathon on Sunday. Her husband Tom Cruise was there to cheer her on and said she had been training for three months. Cruise said Holmes was “very inspired.”
