Russian hockey game canceled due to fight

Fights break out on the ice in American hockey constantly but it was Russian ice hockey that made the news today with a game cancellation due to fighting. Players of West Siberia's Omsk Avangard and Vityaz Chekhov from the Moscow region started a fight minutes after the game started. The first fight was followed by another scuffle which prompted an immediate cancellation of the hockey match.

Russian president Dmitri Medvedev declared December 7th a day of mourning after the huge fire tragedy claimed lives of 109 russian citiznes in the city of Perm. Russia's regional prosecutors have been told to organize urgent nationwide inspections of public gathering venues, to avoid a repeat of Saturday's fire in a nightclub which killed at least 109 people.

Russian Cosmonaut Feoktistov Dies At 83

Russian cosmonaut Konstantin Feoktistov, who was the recipient of two firsts as a cosmonaut, has died. He was 83. The Russian Space Agency said in a statement Sunday that Feoktistov died of unspecified causes late Saturday in Moscow.
