The Amon Carter Museum has added a major work to its holdings of early 20th-century American sculpture: a bronze with brown patina and nickel plate entitled Woman Seated by Gaston Lachaise (1882–1935). The acquisition was supported by funds from The Council, a membership group that was established in 1988 to honor Amon G. Carter's vision as a collector.

Tate has acquired Louise Bourgeois's celebrated sculpture of a giant female spider, Maman 1999. The work is a gift of the artist and an anonymous benefactor.

The North Carolina Museum of Art announced today it has received a gift in honor of Julia Jones Daniels, former chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Museum of Art. African artist Taslim Martin is to unveil a poignant sculpture 'Blue Earth 1807-2007' to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Parliamentary Abolition of Transatlantic Slavery.
