Seattle Opera's production of Puccini's Tosca opens at McCaw Hall on February 23, with two star-studded casts in nine performances running from Feb. 23 through March 9. As the heroine who fights for love, it's no surprise that Tosca is a favorite character for so many sopranos. General Director Speight Jenkins said that he chose this particular opera after hearing famed Polish contralto Ewa Podles perform the leading role at the Canadian Opera Company.

Seattle Opera's 2007 Opera Goes to School program starts this week with performances of Theft of the Gold: The Ring Begins in Yakima and Shoreline. This adaptation of Wagner's Rheingold was created by Seattle Opera Education Artistic Administrator Jonathan Dean and was presented last season at schools through the Puget Sound region.

The season begins August 4, 2007 and runs through May 17, 2008 with performances at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. The 2007/08 season opens with Wagner's Flying Dutchman (Der fliegende Holländer) in August, followed by the premiere of a new co-production with the Metropolitan Opera of Gluck's Iphigenia in Tauris (Iphigénie en Tauride) in October, 2007.
