Inspiring Impressionism: The Impressionists and the Art of the Past will shed new light on one of art history’s most important movements when it opens at the Seattle Art Museum on June 19, 2008 and will run through September 21, 2008.

Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM) is proud to announce a new exhibition, Robots: A Designer's Collection of Miniature Mechanical Marvels. The exhibition celebrates society's long fascination with humankind's technological version of itself. The exhibition is drawn from a one-of-a-kind assemblage of toy robots, which noted graphic designer Tom Geismar has been collecting for decades.

On Friday, May 30, at 8 p.m., Gerard Schwarz will lead members of Seattle Symphony and community musicians in a chamber concert featuring the music of top contemporary immigrant composers. Three of the six composers will be present for the performance, including Bulgarian-born Henri Lazarof, and two Seattle-based composers, French-born Joël-Francois Durand and Brazilian-born Jovino Santos Neto.

The Seattle Art Museum is launching a new contemporary art exhibition program entitled SAM Next. The program will present a series of three exhibitions each year introducing audiences to emerging or underappreciated artists working in the Northwest, around the United States and internationally.

Seattle Symphony and Cornish College of the Arts come together for a staged production of The Little Mahagonny, Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's dramatic tale of human vice and corruption on Thursday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 7, at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 31, at 8 p.m., Gerard Schwarz will lead Seattle Symphony and The University of Washington Chorale in what will be the first complete public performance of the Genesis Suite since its 1945 premiere. Originally lost in a fire, the recently reconstructed Genesis Suite is a 20th-century masterpiece that boasts the work of seven leading composers of the day, among them Arnold Schönberg and Igor Stravinsky.

The Seattle-born Boeing B-17 bomber played an important role in World War II and aviation history. Aluminum Overcast, the Experimental Aircraft Association’s restored B-17, returns to the Seattle skies and the Museum of Flight from Wednesday, May 21 – Monday, May 26.

On Sunday, May 25, at 7 p.m., Seattle Symphony double bassists Joseph Kaufman and Jonathan Green will lead a local all-star ensemble in an eclectic chamber music performance marking the final concert in the 2007–2008 Seattle Symphony at The Triple Door series.

Seattle Symphony Concertmaster Maria Larionoff will lead the Orchestra in three performances of Vivaldi's ever-popular "Four Seasons," and will be featured as soloist in J.S. Bach's Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major. Also on the program, Seattle Symphony Principal Second Violin Elisa Barston will join Larionoff in J.S. Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D minor.
