Conductor Arnie Roth will lead Seattle Symphony in a program for gamers and nostalgists alike as PLAY! A Video Game Symphony comes to Seattle for one night only, Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. This exciting program includes music from hit videogames Final Fantasy, The Legend Of Zelda, HALO, Super Mario Bros., Chrono Cross, Kingdom Hearts, Battlefield 1942, Sonic The Hedgehog and more.

On November 20 at 7:30 p.m. world-renowned pianist Nelson Freire will join Yuri Temirkanov as he leads the legendary St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra at Benaroya Hall for a single performance. The Orchestra will perform Schubert’s Entr'acte III from the Incidental Music to Rosamunde, Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor and selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

Seattle Opera’s Young Artists are beginning their state-wide tour, performing two one-act operas, Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Donizetti’s Rita, in Friday Harbor, Eastsound, Mount Vernon, Wenatchee, Edmonds, Kirkland, and Seattle.

Seattle Symphony Orchestra will perform Shostakovich’s masterpiece, Symphony No. 11, “The Year 1905,” on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 17, at 8 p.m. Acclaimed pianist Arnaldo Cohen will join Gerard Schwarz and the Orchestra for performances of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The program will also include Benjamin Britten’s Russian Funeral.

Seattle Symphony Orchestra Music Director Gerard Schwarz will be joined by distinguished pianist Vladimir Feltsman for a week of music featuring the works of Johannes Brahms.

Renowned conductor Stéphane Denève will lead Seattle Symphony in an all-Impressionist program to include Stravinsky's Jeu de cartes, Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major featuring Frank Braley, Fauré's Pelléas et Mélisande Suite and Debussy's Ibéria from Images. Performances will take place Thursday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 2, at 1 p.m.; and Saturday, November 3, at 8 p.m.

Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM) will open American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music, the first major museum exhibition to tell the story of the profound influence and impact of Latinos in American popular music.

As a part of Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM)'s ongoing oral history project, EMP|SFM presents Oral History Live!, a series of intimate interviews recorded before a live audience. EMP|SFM has more than 500 oral histories with notable musicians, producers, filmmakers and authors in its collection. Many of which are featured in the permanent exhibition at EMP|SFM, Sound and Vision: Artists Tell Their Stories.

City of Seattle Activates Emergency Operation Center in Response to Strong Winds and Power Outages Due To Severe Weather.

Pianist Awadagin Pratt, as much known for his talent as for his public persona, will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 under the baton of Douglas Boyd. The program will also include Beethoven’s Overtures to The Creatures of Prometheus and Coriolan as well as Schubert’s Symphony No. 2. Performances will take place on Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 27, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, October 28, at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m., Brazilian-born brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad will perform a program of guitar music that spans genres, centuries and cultures. Highlights will include Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Selections from Piéces de Clavecin, two pieces by Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Astor Piazzolla’s Bandoneón and Invierno Porteño from Las cuatro estaciones porteñas.

Acclaimed conductor Christopher Seaman will the lead the orchestra in Handel's Water Music and Royal Fireworks Music, Vivaldi's Flute Concerto in G major and J.C. Bach's Viola Concerto in C minor. Seattle Symphony Principal Violist Susan Gulkis Assadi will be the featured soloist on the Bach Viola Concerto and flutist Alexander Lipay will lend his talent to the Vivaldi Flute Concerto. Performances will take place on Friday, October 19, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, October 20, at 8 p.m.
