Nelson Freire To Join St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra

On November 20 at 7:30 p.m. world-renowned pianist Nelson Freire will join Yuri Temirkanov as he leads the legendary St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra at Benaroya Hall for a single performance. The Orchestra will perform Schubert’s Entr'acte III from the Incidental Music to Rosamunde, Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor and selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

Seattle Symphony Presents Shostakovich's 1905

Seattle Symphony Orchestra will perform Shostakovich’s masterpiece, Symphony No. 11, “The Year 1905,” on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 17, at 8 p.m. Acclaimed pianist Arnaldo Cohen will join Gerard Schwarz and the Orchestra for performances of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2. On Tuesday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m., Brazilian-born brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad will perform a program of guitar music that spans genres, centuries and cultures. Acclaimed conductor Christopher Seaman will the lead the orchestra in Handel's Water Music and Royal Fireworks Music, Vivaldi's Flute Concerto in G major and J.C. Bach's Viola Concerto in C minor. Seattle Symphony Principal Violist Susan Gulkis Assadi will be the featured soloist on the Bach Viola Concerto and flutist Alexander Lipay will lend his talent to the Vivaldi Flute Concerto.
