Seattle Symphony at The Triple Door returns for the 2007–2008 season with an all-new lineup following the success of last season's collaboration. The first concert of the series will take place on Sunday, October 14, at 7 p.m. and will feature Seattle Symphony violists Mara Gearman and Sayaka Kokubo performing the Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 and the double-string masterpiece Mendelssohn's Octet, as well as other selections.

Seattle Symphony Associate Conductor Carolyn Kuan will be joined by soprano Harolyn Blackwell, mezzo-soprano Sally Burgess, tenor Karl Dent, bass-baritone Clayton Brainerd and the Seattle Symphony Chorale for an all-Mozart program October 11-14 at Benaroya Hall.

On Tuesday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m., Murray Perahia will perform a program that spans the rich piano repertoire of Western classical music, from Bach and Beethoven to Brahms and Chopin. This performance will kick-off Seattle Symphony Orchestra's 2007–2008 Distinguished Artists Recital series which also includes Yefim Bronfman on November 28, 2007; Gil Shaham on January 22, 2008; and Lang Lang on March 26, 2008.

Seattleites will step INTO THE WOODS this October as The 5th Avenue Theatre produces the region's professional premiere of Stephen Sondheim's most popular musical. The 5th Avenue has cast some of Seattle's favorite actors in Sondheim's Tony Award-winning fractured fairy tale.

Seattle Symphony Associate Conductor Carolyn Kuan will lead the Seattle Symphony and young violinist Marié Rossano in From Soccer to the Symphony, the first Discover Music! series concert of the season. The program will include works by Barber, Beethoven, Borodin, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Sousa and Tchaikovsky.

Kyoko Takezawa will join Gerard Schwarz and Seattle Symphony for performances of Bartók's First Violin Concerto on Thursday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 5, at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, October 6, at 8 p.m. The program will also include Stravinsky's Suite from Pulcinella and
Schumann's Symphony No. 2 in C major.

Gerard Schwarz will lead Seattle Symphony Orchestra and pianist Cecile Licad in performances of the perennially popular Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 on Thursday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 28, at 1 p.m.; Saturday, September 29, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, September 30, at 2 p.m. The program will also include Bright Sheng's Tibetan Love Songs and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor.

LONE STAR LOVE, a new musical comedy starring Academy Award nominee Randy Quaid in his Broadway debut as Colonel John Falstaff, has announced full casting as it begins rehearsals this week for its Seattle engagement at The 5th Avenue Theatre, through September 30.

Single tickets go on sale to the public September 10 for the final three productions in the Seattle Opera 2007/08 season as well as for all Young Artists performances.

On September 15, 2007, at 7 p.m., Seattle Symphony Orchestra’s 2007-2008 season officially kicks off with a concert featuring world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The French-inspired program will highlight works by George Gershwin, Gabriel-Urbain Fauré, Maurice Ravel and Camille Saint-Saëns. Ani Kavafian will debut as one of Seattle Symphony’s newly appointed concertmasters.
