At 3:26pm EDT on Tuesday afternoon the space shuttle Discovery undocked from the International Space Station to begin the journey home. Discovery and its crew of seven spent over a week completing docked operations at the space station.

At 8:54 pm ET Sunday afternoon, the space shuttle Discovery docked with the space station with special cargo COLBERT treadmill aboard. Discovery lifted off with a brilliant show against the Friday night sky loaded with supplies, science equipment and the treadmill named after Comedy Central host Steven Colbert.

After three previous attempts to launch, the space shuttle Discovery lifted off into outer space in what was the last scheduled nighttime launch remaining for the shuttle fleet. NASA only has six more shuttle missions planned before the fleet is retired either in 2010 or 2011. The 37th flight for Discovery started with a brilliant nighttime launch into orbit at 11:59 pm ET Friday night.

The rescheduled launch of the space shuttle Discovery has been scrubbed due to a problem with a fill-and-drain valve located inside the aft compartment. Preparations were on scheduled for the launch early Wednesday morning when the problem was discovered.

The space shuttle launch time is still on scheduled with the countdown proceeding as planned. Shuttle Discovery was given the “go” from NASA’s mission management team on Sunday. Scheduled for a beautiful night time launch, Discovery and its crew are schedule to launch at 1:36 am ET Tuesday morning.

There is an old saying about reaching for the stars. Astronaut Jose Hernandez will be doing just that when the space shuttle Discovery lifts off this week. Hernandez, 47, grew up working the farm fields of California and is now heading to outer space for his first space flight.

Discovery is set to liftoff at 7:43 p.m. EDT on the STS-119 mission to the International Space Station. Commander Lee Archambault and crew will install the outpost's final set of solar arrays.

Just few minutes ago Space Shuttle Discovery safely landed after successfuly completing it's mission. With Discovery safely back on the ground at Kennedy Space Center, the landing convoy is rolling slowly onto the runway.

After successfully delivering and installing Japan's Kibo module on the International Space Station, Discovery's astronauts are preparing to land in Florida on Saturday.

Space shuttle Discovery rocketed into space safely this evening to begin a 14-day mission to attach a new scientific module to the International Space Station. Launch came at 5:02 p.m. EDT from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida and set Discovery on a trajectory to intercept the space station in two days.

Space shuttle Discovery descended to a smooth landing at Kennedy Space Center, Fla., concluding a successful assembly mission to the International Space Station. With Commander Pam Melroy and Pilot George Zamka at the controls, Discovery landed at 1:01 p.m. EST.
