It is probably safe to say that Carly Simon is not drinking any Starbucks coffee these days. On Friday, Simon filed a lawsuit against Starbucks for failing to properly promote her album "This Kind of Love."

Today is National Coffee Day and Starbucks is celebrating by introducing a new way to brew a cup of coffee anytime with the kickoff of Starbucks VIA Ready Brew instant coffee. The convenience of Starbucks VIA, coupled with the industry experience of Starbucks, will allow consumers to take a great cup of fresh-brewed coffee with them wherever they go.

July 21st is Starbucks Free Pastry Day. I would have to add "sort of," because you do have to buy some coffee in order to get the benefits of a sugary treat, but still, the offer is there. Starbucks holds the free pastry offer only in the morning hours.

Starbucks, facing the realities of the worst recession in decades, announced on Thursday it will begin selling instant coffee at its outlets.

Starbucks is giving a free cup of coffee to Americans who vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th.

As we announced on July 1, 2008, Starbucks will close approximately 600 company-operated stores in the U.S. beginning this month and continuing through the first half of FY09. Partners in the stores listed below have been personally notified that their Starbucks store has been slated for closure during this time frame.

As I said when I first wrote about this lawsuit, it was obviously something that T-Mobile would be willing to settle out of court for. And on Wednesday, AT&T and Starbucks reached a settlement with T-Mobile, which had claimed that the other companies had secretly colluded with each other to offer free Wi-Fi Internet access despite the exclusive contract Starbucks had with T-Mobile.

There are tons of coffee shops and cafes offering free wi-fi, and Starbucks has been feeling a little green with envy over all those people sitting there surfing the web - and buying nothing. Still, on Tuesday, Starbucks began offering free wi-fi, with some limitations.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) today announced the beginning of the rollout of AT&T Wi-Fi service at company-operated Starbucks stores, kicking off a nationwide effort that will continue through 2008.

New home sales fell 8.5% to an annual pace of 526,000, the lowest since October 1991. The median price fell 13.3% from the same time last year and inventories rose to 11 months. While this is not related to Starbucks, there is some connection.
