The state of Oregon is giving taxpayers that owe due to failing to report a chance to come clean. Oregon's tax-amnesty program runs through November 19th and is the first time the state has offered this.

If you owe the state of Virginia back taxes, then you may be able to save some money when you pay the delinquent amount. That is if you pay off the outstanding balance in the next two months. Virginia's tax-amnesty program starts October 7th and runs through December 5th.

The idea of a 2% service tax is appealing to Michigan's Governor Granholm because it avoids having to deal with limitations on taxes that the citizens of Michigan voted into their state constitution.

Taxpayers have an extra two days to file their personal income tax returns in Massachusetts this year. The deadline for filing income tax returns is extended to Tuesday, April 17, 2007, because April 15 falls on a Sunday and Monday, April 16 is the Patriot's Day holiday. (Coincidentally, federal income tax returns also are due on April 17 this year because April 16 is a legal holiday in Washington, D.C.)

Acting New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Barbara G. Billet today reminded New York taxpayers that the deadline for filing all personal income tax returns this year falls on Tuesday, April 17.
