Afghanistan's Interior Ministry says 17 people, including 12 schoolchildren, have been killed in a suicide bombing in southern Afghanistan.

Eleven people were killed when a suicide car bomber smashed a vehicle packed with explosives into an army convoy in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border, local media reported Wednesday.

Iraq's parliament is expected to meet in a special session today to express condemnation over a suicide bombing at its headquarters on April 12. The U.S. military said the blast killed eight people, including two Sunni legislators, and wounded more than 20 others.

Algeria's official news agency (APS) says the death toll from Wednesday's suicide bombings in the capital has risen to 33. More than 200 others were wounded in the two car bombings - one, outside the office of Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem in central Algiers, and the second, at a police station in the Bab Ezzouar district in the city's eastern outskirts.
