One thousand Australians have spent the day proposing their ideas for a better future at day one of the 2020 summit in Canberra.

A free-trade agreement will top the agenda Friday and Saturday when President Bush and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak hold their first summit.

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has departed South Korea for a week of summit diplomacy aimed at turning a new page in ties with Japan and the United States. Lee administration officials say the president is particularly hoping to repair Seoul's relationship with Washington.

President Bush is heading to Europe Monday for visits to Ukraine, Croatia, Russia and the NATO summit in Romania.

The third summit of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will be held in Riyadh in November, reported KUNA.
