The Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s 2008/09—80th season is a season to celebrate! Guest artists including The Romeros Guitar Quartet, (performing with the TSO for the first time in over 25 years), world acclaimed pianist Cecile Licad (returning by popular demand), the Smothers Brothers in their TSO Pops! debut, The Broadway Tenors, The Lettermen and Bugs Bunny on Broadway will make this anniversary season sparkle from September, 2008 through May, 2009.

In a move to increase its usage of sustainable transport, musicians from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra will be given the opportunity to trade the car for the train when travelling to its concert venues across Scotland.

LA Phil presents Antony and the Johnsons at Walt Disney Concert Hall in a one-night-only, special performance with orchestral accompaniment on Tuesday, October 14, at 8 p.m. This marks the only West Coast appearance of Antony and the Johnsons; they will be performing with a 20-piece orchestra in this rare concert supporting Antony and the Johnsons’ upcoming ep, Another World, due out on Secretly Canadian on October 7.

At the age of 23, Sergei Prokofiev gave the first public performance of his Piano Concerto No. 1 in D-flat Major. It won him the Anton Rubinstein Prize - a grand piano. On October 4, hotshot Russian pianist Vladimir Feltsman will take on the challenging solo part with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
