Aside Productions has assembled some of The Woodlands brightest talent for its upcoming new play festival, “An Evening of Original Plays.”


The company is excited to present a new side of theatre to The Woodlands that showcases the playwriting talent within the community. Along with presenting a new facet to theatre, Aside is proud to give the acting company something few actors often get the chance to do: collaborate and work with the playwright throughout the development of the play itself.

Jubilee Theatre continues its 2007-2008 season with Crowns a gospel musical by Dallas native Regina Taylor. This musical play has an unusual source for a dramatic work: an inspired collection of photographs and personal stories published in the best selling book Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats written by Craig Marberry and illustrated by photographer Michael Cunningham.

The Tony Award-winning musical comedy, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, is coming to Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, presented by Theatre Under The Stars, March 25-April 6 for 16 performances. Single tickets for THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE are $29-$93.

WASHINGTON, DC - As the centerpiece of its 2007/08 season, the not-for-profit Folger Theatre produces MACBETH, Shakespeare’s chilling Scottish tragedy, as realized by Emmy-winning magician Teller (of Penn & Teller) and Helen Hayes Award-winning director Aaron Posner as a startling, supernatural production brimming with magic, mayhem, and madness. MACBETH, co-conceived and co-directed by Teller and Aaron Posner, with magic designed by Teller, is on stage February 28 – April 13, 2008.

Broadway producers are holding closed-door talks with striking stagehands over a stoppage that has brought the curtain down on New York's theatre district for more than two weeks.
