Statue of Liberty Reopening To Boost Ellis Island Tourism

July 4th, 2009 will witness the reopening of the Statue of Liberty Crown in Ellis Island, which is one of the islands of New York City. The Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced exclusively this morning on the TODAY show that the Statue of Liberty Crown will reopen to the public on Independence Day. The reopening of of the the world's most popular monuments will increase the flow of tourists to Ellis Island as people come there to discover the history of past records.

Hawaiians Rebuild Park Without Waiting for Government Aid

Residents of Kauai island in Hawaii banded together to repair severe flooding damage to a state park after growing tired of waiting for the state government to step in. The repairs, which the Department of Land and Natural resources said would cost $4 million to fix, were completed entirely by volunteer work over the course of eight days.
