Dell enterprise products helped Canadian visual-effects company Soho vfx put the “special” in the advanced effects used in the movie “The Incredible Hulk” being released in theatres today.

The Indian film market, popularly known as "Bollywood," is booming, but Indian filmmaking, until quite recently, has been slow to adapt to computer-generated visual effects (VFX) and animation. As Bollywood moves toward an era of slick visual effects, Indian VFX and animation studios are honing their skills and building their portfolios by taking on work from Hollywood as well as for indigenous films and commercials.

Computer scientists from UC San Diego have developed a way to generate images like smoke-filled bars, foggy alleys and smog-choked cityscapes without the computational drag and slow speed of previous computer graphics methods.

Microsoft Corp. and Weta Digital Ltd., an Academy Award-winning visual effects company, announced a licensing agreement that will enhance Weta’s ability to create graphics and special effects for its movie, commercial and other multimedia productions.
