Early Mozart Music Found And Played

Since the 1760s the fragmentary works sat scrawled at the back of a music book used by Mozart's sister to study keyboard. They were in the hand of their father, Leopold, but no composer's name was attached.

It may well be possible that young Mozart wrote these peaces for his sister to practice. The works were known before. However, no one knew who to attribute them.

Mozart portrait discovered

A previously unknown portrait of Mozart has been authenticated by an academic from King’s College London, Professor Cliff Eisen, a world expert on the eighteenth-century composer. It could be the single most significant Mozart artefact to come to light in the last 200 years.

Mackerras Scottish Orchestra's Mozart Concert

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra showcases an all-Mozart programme on the 28 February (Queen's Hall, Edinburgh) and 29 February (City Halls, Glasgow) under the baton of Conductor Laureate, Sir Charles Mackerras. Set to be one of the highlights of the Season, this concert brings together some of Mozart's most popular works from his youth and his glory years; the composer's religious motet Exultate, Jubilate, the Dominican Vespers and Symphony No 38 Prague.

Mozart's Flute Concert At Scottish Orchestra

Scottish Chamber Orchestra Principal Flute, Alison Mitchell, steps into the spotlight as soloist in Mozart's Flute Concerto in G, in performances in St Andrews (Younger Hall, Wednesday 30 January), Edinburgh (Queen's Hall, Thursday 31 January) and Glasgow (City Halls, Friday 1 February) under conductor Paul Meyer. The Orchestra then heads to Germany (6-16 February) with Emmanuel Pahud in the soloist's role.

Todd Levy To Perform Mozart's Clarinet Concert

Guest conductor Nicholas McGegan will lead the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in Deep & Playful January 25 and 26, 2008. The program features MSO Principal Clarinet Todd Levy in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, and also includes John Adams' Chamber Symphony and Beethoven's Symphony No. 1. The MSO's 2007/08 season boasts performances of all nine Beethoven symphonies, paired with significant works by major American composers.

Pianist Awadagin Pratt To Perform Mozart's Piano Concert

Pianist Awadagin Pratt, as much known for his talent as for his public persona, will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 under the baton of Douglas Boyd. The program will also include Beethoven’s Overtures to The Creatures of Prometheus and Coriolan as well as Schubert’s Symphony No. 2. Performances will take place on Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 27, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, October 28, at 2 p.m.
