York Theatre Royal and the National Railway Museum (NRM) have announced they are joining forces this summer to stage a magical new production of E. Nesbit’s much loved children’s tale The Railway Children. This must-see theatrical event will take place at the National Railway Museum from 17 July - 23 August.

This spring, York Theatre Royal is proud to present the exciting world premiere of Patient No.1, a new play by America’s leading political playwright, Donald Freed. This powerful and gripping tragic-farce on the state of American politics runs in The Studio running through 17 May and is a stunning expose, of not only of American politics, but of our own personal part in world affairs.

This May, York Theatre Royal will be playing host to the highly acclaimed Actors of Dionysus with their latest gripping new acrobatic aerial theatre show Baachic (6th May at 7.30pm), as well as the exciting folk powerhouse group The Demon Barber Roadshow (7th May at 8pm).

After another busy and successful year, York Theatre Royal's Costume Hire Department is running out of space, due to the fact that a stunning new range of costumes is produced for every single production. So its out with the old and in with the new, as the theatre prepares for its ever-popular Costume Sale, which will take place at York Theatre Royal on Saturday 3 May between 10am – 4pm.

Pantomime season is set to start again at York when York Theatre Royal and Lakeside Art Centre, Nottingham join forces for a new production of Philip Meeks' exquisite revenge comedy about the demise of a pantomime dame - Twinkle Little Star. The award-winning play, which was first staged at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006 to great acclaim, stars pantomime legend Kenneth Alan Taylor, and runs at York Theatre Royal from 28 March-19 April.

After last year's success with Thoroughly Modern Millie, York Light Opera Company make a welcome return to the main stage at York Theatre Royal with the much-loved, timeless classic musical, My Fair Lady, from 12-23 February.

York Theatre Royal will be hosting a series of comedy nights this spring with the very best in Top Stand-up comedy that Britain can offer. The season will kick off on Saturday 9 February and will include two of the very best stand up comedians on the tours these days – Norman Lovett and Robin Ince.
