The Foreign Minister of Austria, Michael Spindelegger arrived to New York to preside over this momentous event. Here is what is happening between Turkey and Azerbaijan in regard to Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijan in late 1990s started war against the civilian population of the Nagorno Karabakh Armenians, who voted to be independent from Azerbaijan due to cultural and human rights related oppression. Armenia supported the move and Turkey blockaded Turkish-Armenian border showing solidarity with Azerbaijan. The later holds Turkey hostage to relations with Armenia. Turkey says you can't do that.

Two Senators Introduce Armenian Genocide Resolution In US Senate

Yesterday two senators from Nevada and New Jersey introduced a new resolution in the U.S. Senate aiming to confirm by the Senate that the atrocities carried out by the government of Turkey in 1915 amount to genocide of the Armenian people. The significance of this new resolution grows on the backdrop of the recently signed protocols between Armenia and Turkey.

Finally the protocols are signed between Armenia and Turkey. The foreign minister of Turkey Mr. Davutoglu and Armenia Mr. Nalbandian signed the protocols normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey. There won't be any announcements after singing the protocols. Looks like the parties decided not to have any announcements thus resolving the issue that postponed the signing of the protocols.

Today, the president of Armenia Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, just hours ahead of the signing of the protocols between Armenia and Turkey on normalization of relations, issued an address to the nation saying his country's commitment to protocols is not unilateral. "Therefore, if Turkey fails to ratify the protocols within reasonable timeframe or to accomplish its provisions in due time, Armenia will undertake corresponding measures in accordance with international law," said the president.
