Sen. Burriss a Player in Health Care Reform

Sen. Roland Burriss, the black sheep of the Senate because of his relationship with former and disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, appears to be a real player in the health care reform debate. The reason is that Burriss, one of the 60 Democrats needed to prevent a filibuster, has said he will not support a bill without a public option.

IOC Announcement: Tokyo, Chicago Eliminated

The IOC announced that Chicago and Tokyo have been rejected as sites for the 2016 Olympics. Rio de Janeiro and Madrid are the finalists. The announcement as to who will host the 2016 Olympics will happen between 12-12:30 EST.

President Obama joined his wife, Michelle, in Copenhagen today in an effort to make a final push to bring the Olympics to U.S. soil again ahead of the 2016 Olympics announcement. Chicago is one of the finalists and the odds are not bad for the Windy City. Mrs. Obama and Oprah Winfrey arrived prior to the President Obama and have blazed a trail in Copenhagen showing their determination to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago.

Three Arrested in Derrion Albert Case

Three have been arrested in the case of Derrion Albert's beating death, which was caught on tape and which I wrote about earlier. The three have have been charged with first-degree murder and will be tried as adults.

Michelle Obama Boosts Bid for Chicago US Olympics 2016

Michelle Obama is hoping that the 2016 Olympics will be held in Chicago. Mrs. Obama was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, not far from the suggested locations for the 2016 Olympic Games. President Barack Obama is sending his wife Michelle to Copenhagen next month in hopes that she can urge Olympics organizers to select Chicago to host the 2016 Games.
