Armenia to Turkey: Normalization Not Linked To Karabakh

Turkey has positioned itself in a very confusing situation with Armenia. On one hand it pre-signs protocols about normalization of relations with Armenia where there is no single word about linking the process to Armenia's relations to Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, on the other hand it tells Azerbaijan that unless the issue of Nagorno Karabakh is solved the Turkish Armenian border won't open. Armenian warning to Turkish statements of linking two processes did not delay.

Armenia Says Turkey Obliged To Respect Genocide Survivos

On September 17, during the Iftar dinner, which the PM of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave to Turkish media editors-in-chiefs, he said Turkey would not open its border with Armenia without solution to Nagorno Karabakh problem. He also said that Armenia must be freed from the influence of the powerful diaspora. We asked the Armenian Foreign Ministry to comment on the above, which said that the Turkish PM's comments are not helpful to the process and that genocide survivors must be respected.

Everything started from the point where about 200 Turkish intellectuals issued an apology to the Armenian people for the violent past. This was a major step toward the Turkish Armenian reconciliation, but the movement took pace and by now already more than 8000 in Turkey have signed the apology at www.ozurdiliyoruz.com.
