Plant aficionados, wagons in tow, will be first in line for A Bloomin’ Sale, the Midwest’s premier plant sale, which returns to the Chicago Botanic Garden on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. The Woman’s Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society planned this 42nd annual sale with the theme "Success with the Best." More than 30,000 plants in 900 varieties will be available, including many that are hard to find, easy to grow and reliably hardy.

The Young Collectors Committee of the Antiques & Garden Fair gathered recently at the home of Cathy and Michael Busch in Winnetka to view their home and meet its interior designer, Ruthie Sommers. Sommers has been named one of the "Top 25 New Designers" in America by House Beautiful and she ranks among House & Garden's top five in "Best of Design."

In honor of the Jewish harvest holiday Sukkot, the Chicago North Shore Section of the National Council of Jewish Women will display their annual sukkah display at the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Botanic Garden from Saturday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 7. Families are invited to take part in arts and crafts activities to decorate the sukkah from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Rare Maps At Chicago Botanic Garden

An exhibition featuring maps revealing the global travels of plant explorers will be on display in the Lenhardt Library located in the Regenstein Center at the Chicago Botanic Garden from Friday, November 2 through Sunday, February 10, 2008. Visitors to the Chicago Botanic Garden will discover unusual forms of mums this fall. They’ll be wowed from the start with groupings of bronze “mum ball” containers outside the Visitor Center, cascading mum hayracks over the bridge to the main island, a sea of 2,100 yellow, orange, bronze and red mums in The Crescent and three shades of red “mum ball” containers under trees lining the Esplanade.
