NASA, after holding Ares I-X on a launch pad for nearly a day, launched it this morning into the space. Ares I-X will be the testing of the concepts of the future rocket designs.

For the first time in a generation, NASA has a new rocket waiting for launch time. Weather is now the only thing holding back the launch of the Ares I-X rocket. NASA's first flight test of its Ares I-X booster rocket is only slated to last two minutes. Cloudy skies are holding up the test launch of NASA's newest rocket. NASA has until noon to get the experimental Ares I-X flight going.

Switzerland has sent its first satellite into space

The Indian launcher Polar Space Launch Vehicle took off at 8:22 a.m. - Swiss time. Twenty minutes later, the SwissCube was ejected from the nose cone of the rocket at an altitude of around 720 kilometers. At 9:37 a.m. the first ever signals sent from a Swiss satellite in space were picked up from Stanford (California). Mission accomplished.

Kepler Lifts Off To Find Life In Our Galaxy

Just about 3 minutes ago NASA launched Kepler telescope. Kepler will search for life in our galaxy Milky Way. Kepler will monitor 100,000 stars, searching for signs of planets - including ones as small as or smaller than Earth. The telescope will continue the search for habitable planets.

India's Flag Landed On Moon

At 8:34 pm Indian time Friday night (1504 UTC), India became the fourth group to land its flag on the Moon. The unmanned lunar orbiter Chandrayaan-1 ejected its Moon Impact Probe, which hurtled across the surface of the Moon at 1.5 kilometres per second (3000 miles per hour), and successfully crash landed near the Moon's south pole. Besides carrying three important scientific instruments, the lunar probe also carried the image of the Indian national flag, painted on all sides.
