The rebates you can get in the Cash for Clunkers program are definitely tempting ($3,500 or $4,500, depending on qualifications of the old and new vehicles). It's also been drawing buyers into dealerships since the program started last weekend. The question is: is it simply moving up purchases for people who already planned to buy, or is it really providing a stimulus.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has developed it’s fourth-generation Advanced Safety Vehicle, known as the Nissan ASV-4. Based on the Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV) Promotion Plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the vehicle is designed to help reduce accidents by employing advanced vehicle-to-vehicle communications. Nissan will use the Nissan ASV-4 to test various technologies in preparation for commercial application.
