Cisco to Buy Starent Networks for $2.9 Billion

On Tuesday, it was announced that Cisco Systems would buy Starent Networks for $2.9 billion. Starent makes equipment that helps wireless carriers tranfers large volumes of data to phones and other computing devices. Can anyone spell "iPhone?"

Xerox had agreed to buy Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) for $6.4 billion the biggest acquisition in Xerox' history. It's a good move on the part of Xerox, further diversifying its printing and copying focused brand into computer services.

Omniture to Be Acquired by Adobe

You've likely never heard of Omniture, because it's a web analytics firm, meaning it doesn't produce anything that most consumers care about. However, those metrics that Omniture does produce are of key interest to many companies, such as, apparently, Adobe.

IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced the completion of its approximately $340 million USD (EUR 215 million) tender offer for the shares of ILOG (NASDAQ: ILOG) (PARIS: ILO) (ISIN: FR0004042364). The tender offer, announced July 28, 2008, was finalized after IBM acquired all outstanding stock in ILOG and satisfied the other conditions of the offer.
