Electric car corridor from Eugene Oregon to Vancouver coming soon

The state of Washington is one of five states selected to participate in a 36 month study, funded by $100 million grant from the Department of Energy under the Economic Recovery Program. The state hopes to use some of the funds to eventually begin construction of an “electric car corridor” which could run from Eugene Oregon to Vancouver British Columbia.

GM Says Chevy Volt To Get You 230 MPG

GM this morning announced that its new Chevy Volt will get the U.S. drivers 230 miles per gallon, making it the first U.S. mass-produced car that will allow more than 100 miles per gallon. Chevy Volt will have 100 miles electrical efficiency in city cycle and plugging in daily will be key to high-mileage performance.

Last week, I took a trip down to San Jose for West Coast Green, an environmentally-focused conference with an emphasis on sustainable building. One booth stood out from the crowd—Magnetic Air Cars, Inc.. The San Jose-based company claims that it is working on the world’s first fuel-less car (as opposed to the World’s Most Fuel Efficient Car).

Senator McCain's proposed $300 million prize for an improved auto battery is an excellent idea. America has the largest university-based research infrastructure to the world. If it could only be harnessed toward solving U.S. and world economic problems, we could see some huge advances in technology. Goal-oriented research works. That's one reason why wars usually lead to huge advances in technology.

As gas prices hit new record highs, an entrepreneurial mother has bought a golf cart business (Golf Carts of Lincoln) and transformed it into an electric car dealership in Rocklin, California called Electric Car Living. On May 30th and 31st she is introducing a new affordable electric car design called the ZAP (OTCBB: ZAAP) Xebra. The event is Friday from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
