Bikini Baristas Face Prostitution Charges

Five Washington state Grab N Go Espresso baristas, who normally wear bikinis, have been charged with prostitution. Apparently they failed to realize that the "grab" part of the name did not apply to grabbing body parts.

Washington Jumps in AP NCAA Football Poll After USC Upset

The AP released its latest poll on college football for 2009, and we saw the results of upsets on Saturday, such was Washington's big upset over USC. The Trojans took a major dive, while the Huskies jumped into the top 25.

Execution Date Set for D.C. Sniper

Mark Nov. 10th on your calendar. On Wednesday, Prince William County Circuit Judge Mary Grace O'Brien set that date for the execution of John Allen Muhammad, who with teenage accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo was was involved in the 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area that left 10 dead.

Mock IED Attacks Planned a DC Canadian Embassy

Canada plans to stage mock IED attacks in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 23 and 24th, to show what Canadian soldiers deployed to Afghanistan face. Authorities plan to build a fake Afghan village in their embassy compound, then attack it with IEDs and "Taliban fighters."

Washington state health officials announced Saturday that a man in his 30s died last week what what appeared to be complications of swine flu. This would be the third person in the U.S. to die from swine flu.

Washington flooded by rain and melting snow

Heavy rain, combined with melting snow from a previous storm, have caused the US state of Washington to issue the largest evacuation order in the history of the state. Over 30,000 people living along the Puyallup River were informed on Wednesday night to leave their homes due to the flooding, combined with threats such as mudslides, avalanches, and overflowing rivers. In some places rain totaled over 6 inches, including 6.86 inches at Marblemount, and 6.3 inches at Snoqualmie Pass.

Tacoma Art Museum’s exhibition What Is a Trade? Donald Fels and Signboard Painters of South India presents sixteen large-scale paintings that explore trade and globalization in India. Fels’ conceptual starting point for this exhibition was Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama’s 1498 voyage to Malabar, India, in search of a direct sea route for the spice trade.
