The Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, under Music Director Federico Cortese, will open its 51st season with Stravinsky’s breath-taking work alongside Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E flat Major, “Eroica,” on October 19, 2008, at Symphony Hall.

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will perform at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre in the 2008-9 Season, returning to its Edinburgh home, the Usher Hall, in May 2009. After considering the report from the building contractors responsible for phase II of the renovations, the City of Edinburgh Council and RSNO have decided to delay the Orchestra’s return to the Edinburgh venue so that work can be carried out uninterrupted.

LA Phil presents Antony and the Johnsons at Walt Disney Concert Hall in a one-night-only, special performance with orchestral accompaniment on Tuesday, October 14, at 8 p.m. This marks the only West Coast appearance of Antony and the Johnsons; they will be performing with a 20-piece orchestra in this rare concert supporting Antony and the Johnsons’ upcoming ep, Another World, due out on Secretly Canadian on October 7.
