40th New York Marathon: Paula Radcliffe fell off the pace after 22 miles and then Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia pushed on to win in the womens race at two hours, 28 minutes and 52 seconds.

NYC Marathon 2009 Start Time and Route Announced

The ING New York City Marathon 2009 starts at 8:20am in Central Park. In order to alleviate congestion there will be three wave starts at the NYC Marathon 2009. Instead of releasing close to 42,000 marathon runners at the same time, each wave will release approximately 14,000 marathon runners in 20-minute increments.
