Seattle Opera Celebrates Young Artists Program

Seattle Opera will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Young Artists Program at their 2008 Gala "Springtime Serenade" on April 26 at McCaw Hall. An all-star lineup of former Young Artists will perform, including 2006 Richard Tucker award-winner Lawrence Brownlee and 2007 Richard Tucker award-winner Brandon Jovanovich.

Seattle Opera's production of Puccini's Tosca opens at McCaw Hall on February 23, with two star-studded casts in nine performances running from Feb. 23 through March 9. As the heroine who fights for love, it's no surprise that Tosca is a favorite character for so many sopranos. Written by the composer of La Bohème and Madama Butterfly, this Italian opera features the ultimate triangle of passion: the opera diva Tosca, her lover Cavaradossi, and the villainous Baron Scarpia.

BRAVO!, Seattle Opera’s club for opera-goers age 21 to 39, reported record membership this November. The club now has 511 members, the highest since the organization began in 1996, which makes it one of the largest clubs of its kind for classical music.
